Kingsmead Leisure Centre, Canterbury, has unveiled their new Summer Programme for 2023 with more family swims throughout the Summer, an enhanced group class programme and the opportunity to try the Canterbury centre out with a £10 for 10 days. In addition, the centre run by Active Life, is now offering more than 60 new sought after swim-school places.
The new £10 for 10 days Summer offer gives new members access to the centre and all the classes, making it even easier for the local community to enjoy the facilities that are available at Kingsmead Leisure Centre. Whilst the centre transformation work is being carried out, classes are being held at the Prince of Wales Centre, supporting this local charity in their fight against the exclusion of disadvantaged young people.
Centre Manager, Derek Hambidge said “We’re delighted that the work is progressing well and our members are still enjoying the opportunity to use the swimming pool and attend our group class programme. Throughout the Summer we have increased the number of family swim times available so that more people in the local community can enjoy some important time together – and with our 10 days for £10 even more people can come and give it a try.”
Kingsmead Leisure Centre is managed by Active Life, part of Fusion Lifestyle and the building is owned by Canterbury City Council. Active Life, a registered charity, is investing circa £8m into the centre to build brand new areas including a new entrance foyer, cafe Les Mills gym, studios and health suites. The extensive transformation works will also make dramatic improvements to the swimming pool, changing facilities and sports hall to create a bigger, better experience for all.
The transformation project at Kingsmead is progressing well with demolition work now complete. From August, visitors to the site will be able to see the exciting plans to rebuild these new areas of centre get underway to ready for its full reopening in Summer 2024.
