Active Life has long had a reputation for providing one of the best exercise referral services across the Canterbury district.
The re-opening of Kingsmead Pools & Fitness this autumn is the perfect opportunity to showcase what our modern-day exercise referral service offers the local community.
With its very own studio, the exercise referral team provides a rehabilitation service that supports the work of our local NHS in helping people to improve their levels of fitness or recover from injury or illness.
Carol Gillatt, Community Exercise Manager, Active Life said:
“Our ambition is to provide a pre-hab and re-hab service that will not only support individuals better on their fitness and recovery journey, but also contribute to the health and well-being of the local population.”
In addition to the studio at Kingsmead Pools & Fitness, there is currently exercise referral provision at Herons Leisure Centre in Herne Bay and now with the opening of a studio at Whitstable Swimming Pool, there is an opportunity to re-open referrals at that site as well.
“We offer age and fitness appropriate classes that aim to improve fitness, functionality and the ability to perform activities of daily living more easily, all of which lead to a sense of improved well-being and quality of life,” Carol added.
“The key thing as we age is to maintain our independence and yet in modern society the age at which serious health problems occur is getting younger and younger. The impact on well-being and functionality in the younger population is a serious issue, which means our service always seeks to adapt to provide support for all ages.”
The Community Exercise team welcomes interest from professionally qualified fitness professionals to support its exercise referral service.
